St. Vincent Charity Hospital is a 137 year old Catholic hospital based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Hospital is constantly growing and changing to meet the needs of its surrounding community. The staff at St. Vincent Charity Hospital strives to meet the needs of each patient as a whole. This includes caring for the physical body as well as for the mind and soul of each patient that comes through their doors. The staff takes great pride in providing quality care, education, and dedication. St. Vincent Charity Hospital is also a leader among the not-for-profit hospitals and is world renown for many great ‘first’ accomplishments in medical history.
St. Vincent Charity Hospital maintains a 480 bed facility and is known for the amazing cardiac surgeries that are performed there. The Hospital is owned by two very worthy entities that jointly formed one corporation; University Hospitals Health System and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. The not-for-profit facility cares for the poor, the sick, and the hopelessly afflicted performing such interventions as surgery, alcohol treatment programs, basic medical/surgical treatments, as well as trauma care, counseling, and an exhausting list of several other interventions.
In addition to its long list of community programs and specialized services, the Hospital also offers an educational environment; for which the Hospital administration receives several applications for residency throughout the year. St. Vincent Charity Hospital currently offers residency programs in Podiatric surgery, Dentistry, Internal Medicine, and Clinical Pastoral Education. The area is a great place for budding medical students to learn. There is a large population in the Cleveland area which offers the medical student limitless opportunities to learn and complete hands on training and techniques.
St. Vincent Charity Hospital has received several designations as a center that consistently provides high quality care. Some of these include: the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, Select Practice National Quality Award, and the Hospital was named among the Top 100 Hospitals for Performance Improvement Leadership.
The hospital has also recently expanded some of its areas and services. These expansions include a Spine and Orthopedic Institute, an expansion of Emergency Services, and a newly instituted program to help provide improved care for those patients that are deaf.
Although St. Vincent Charity Hospital is a one hundred and thirty seven year old hospital, it has managed to maintain steady progression throughout the years. It remains as a beacon of hope and excellence for many in the downtown Cleveland area as well as the surrounding community.
